Venice is a cradle for the romantic and the art enthusiasts. As it is very much associated with water, the romance is taken a notch higher with rides in the iconic gondolas. A big percentage of tourists are couples on a honeymoon so that really counts for how a lone traveler can feel a bit uneasy with so much love and romance floating around. Nonetheless, Venice is the place you must visit in your lifetime because there is no other place in the world like it. But, why travel to Venice, really?

Venice comes by so many other aliases: City of Water, City of Lights, City of Bridges, and Queen of the Adriatic. This city floats within the Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea at the northern part of Italy. It hardly changed from its grandeur and beauty several hundred years back. Although they say the place is going to completely sink 200 to 300 years from now, the appeal lingers.

So, why travel to Venice? There are a lot of things to do in Venice including seeing the churches, buildings, monuments, and museums built long, long time ago displaying magnificent architecture and showcasing the city’s rich history. There are events, cuisines, and entertainment that offer La Dolce Vita that so many people would like to experience. In Venice, there are casinos, cinemas, theatres, operas, clubs, horse races, live orchestra, and sport matches too.

Why travel to Venice now? The fact that the city is sinking should be one reason you should not miss out on the opportunity to have a taste of Venice. During grand events like the Carnival you will find so many people sharing in the festivities and having the time of their lives. The masks and the elaborate costumes are truly spectacular but the mob could be a bit intimidating especially to the more introvert personalities.

To see the real Venice, you should check your map for the paths going to the tourist destinations and walk away from them. You will get lost easily and it could get a little frustrating but wherever you go you will definitely discover what Venice is about. Exploring the city on your own is one must-do in order to satisfy your curiosity on why travel to Venice. Getting to know what the city is really like without tourists would be a great way to see Venice in a different angle. This could be possible if you would stay for a while longer there.

Why travel to Venice anytime soon? The whole experience of simply being in Venice is an astonishing thought. Many people dream of living in such a tranquil, historical, artsy, and laidback place. If you would like to see the other side of Venice, which is the non-commercial – you better put on your walking shoes and grab a map. Venice is a walkable city. In fact, there are no cars anywhere.

Why travel to Venice walking? The various alleys would take you small shops and restaurants that offer the same quality of products at cheaper prices. You will get to see the local infrastructures and you could get a chance to mingle. Do not worry about getting lost because if you continue walking you will soon enough hit water or a piazza and you will find your way back to your hotel.

If you will look closely at the map of the city, you will discover that it is shaped like a fish. That is really appropriate since it is completely logged in water. You can go around the city using the vaporetti and motoscafi (water buses), water taxis, gondola, and the traghetti (singular form is traghetto). Why travel to Venice with your spouse or partner? To ride the gondola and be swept away by the romantic sights along the way, that’s why!

Movies have always depicted the romance in Venice and most are accurate. Although you must be a bit careful about locals who are in the business to part you with your money, there are so many things to do in Venice that wouldn’t really cost you so much. Just be extra thoughtful of your belongings and the many rip-offs you will find. Venice has been thriving on tourism for the longest time and people there have found ingenious ways to outsmart tourists. That could be disappointing but there are so many good things that outweigh the bad there. These good things in life are reasons enough why one should travel to Venice.
